The European Commission’s coordinator for combating anti-Muslim hatred, Marion Lalisse, has expressed serious concern over a significant rise in Islamophobia across several EU member states. Speaking at Türkiye’s Antalya Diplomacy Forum, Lalisse cited alarming statistics, including a stark 140 percent increase in anti-Muslim hate crimes in Germany since the events of October 7, 2023.
She connected this surge in hatred to the aftermath of the October 7th events and the subsequent ongoing Israeli aggression in Gaza, which has led to widespread devastation and the deaths of over 50,000 Palestinians.
